Clear Structures’ expert glass design delivers a peaceful retreat at Maggie’s Manchester
Clear Structures is especially proud to have played a prominent role in the creation of a new building for Maggie’s Centres, a charitable organisation providing unique and uplifting spaces of retreat for people with cancer.
Each Maggie’s Centre is different, but all have the common aim of providing a calm and welcoming environment for visitors. Clear Structures’ specialist structural glass engineers were chosen to help deliver this vision at Maggie’s Manchester, designing the glazed entrance to the glass house adjoining the central building, and the inclined wall panels to ground floor and high level.
In the initial stages, Clear Structures’ experts assessed the timber frame of the building and its suitability to support the extensive glazing required. The rigidity of glass meant working with the timber and the movements of the structure provided a particular challenge. The finished glass house is flooded with natural light and offers an expansive view of the surrounding landscaped gardens, providing a relaxing, soothing space for visitors.
